On September 21, 2022, the Town Council adopted the Town's updated Climate Action Plan (CAP).
The Town's new CAP aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 50% below Tiburon's 1990 levels by 2030, while also laying the path to achieve the State of California's longer term goal of carbon neutrality by 2045. The CAP identifies state and and local actions and performance targets that, if fully implemented and achieved, will meet the Town's ambitious goal to reduce emissions. The top local actions are:
- Electric vehicles
- Electrification of buildings
- Energy efficiency
- Waste reduction
- Community education
- Carbon offsets
