An earthquake can strike at anytime. Where will you be? If you are not at home, how will you get home? What if roads are impassable due to damages and traffic collisions? If you are at home, do you know that your home is safe to be in? Do you know how to evaluate it? Do you know how to check the utilities and shut them off if you need to? Where are your loved ones? If there is no local phone service, how will you communicate with them? Are you prepared to shelter in place in your home for the next five to seven days? Do you have an emergency kit with enough water, food, and other crucial supplies? Police and fire will be overwhelmed, and neighbors may have to rely on neighbors for assistance. Let's all work together to Get Ready and survive the next big earthquake or other disaster.
In a Get Ready class, you will learn how to prepare kits for your home, car, and workplace, make good communication and evacuation plans for your family, how and when to turn off your utilities, and how to prepare your home for fire, earthquake, power outage, and winter storms.
The next class will be Wednesday, May 25, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. All classes will be at the Tiburon Police Station. Call Laurie at (415) 789-2805 to sign up for a class. There will be a Zoom option available.
