Tiburon Parks, Open Space and Trails Commission Public Meeting on March 20, 2018


Tiburon Parks, Open Space and Trails (POST) Commission will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 6:00 PM to review and provide comment on a Town-initiated proposal to perform weeding in the vicinity of special status plant species in the open space parcels held by the Town of Tiburon.

The purpose of the project is to protect and improve the habitat for state and federally-protected plant species that are being encroached upon by non-native grass and weed species.  The primary focus of the weeding near special status plant species would occur in the Middle Ridge Open Space portion of the Tiburon Peninsula, located north and west of Gilmartin Drive.  However, all Town-held open space parcels distributed throughout the Town of Tiburon are included in this proposal.  A map depicting the location of all of the parcels is included in the Initial Study (see link below).

The POST Commission will also consider an Initial Study and draft Negative Declaration for this project.  Based upon the findings of the Initial Study, Town staff is recommending that a Negative Declaration be adopted for the project pursuant to Section 21080 of the California Environmental Quality Act.  Adoption of a Negative Declaration would indicate that the project would not result in any significant adverse effects on the environment because potential impacts would be avoided through the design and implementation of the weeding project. 

The role of the POST Commission at the meeting is to consider making a recommendation to Town staff regarding the project and to consider the Initial Study and draft Negative Declaration. 

The Initial Study and draft Negative Declaration are available for review at the Planning Division, Tiburon Town Hall, 1505 Tiburon Boulevard or see the link below. 

Written comments on the Initial Study and draft declaration will be accepted between February 14, 2018 and March 20, 2018 and should be submitted to Scott Anderson, Director of Community Development, at Town Hall 1505 Tiburon Boulevard, or at sanderson@townoftiburon.org
